Whitby Habour, Yorkshire, England 17-3/8" [44.1cm] x 8-1/2" [21.5cm]
As shown on the back cover of the 2014 Spring issue of The American Marquetry Society.
Whitby Harbour is located on the north east coast of England to the south of the Tees and north of the Humber.  Whitby Abbey, Captain Cook, Dracula, the historical activities of the whaling fleets and other areas of the town’s past lead to a rich environment for the owners and crews of vessels to explore and enjoy. The port is close to the North York Moors National Park with the stunning scenery and wildlife attracting many visitors to the region. All the facilities that would normally be expected to service the cosmopolitan requirements of a busy small port are available, ranging from repair facilities, bunkers, ice and fish market to chandlers, cargo handling and leisure berths. It is the intention that the crews of all vessels visiting the port leave having been made to feel welcome and wishing to return.
This piece was in work for over 3 months. It is 17-3/8" [44.1cm] x 8-1/2" [21.5cm], scalpel cut and finished with six coats of sanding sealer, 3 coats of satin wipe on poly and polished with Renaissance wax.
