This page is an overview of my Restoration Work
Artist: Ernie Mills

This restoration is from a Lady in Queens New York
as published on page 8-10 in the American Marquetry Magazine, Winter 2019

I understand that this piece was purchased from an antique dealer originally and in-depth information about this piece was scant.
This marquetry piece presented some interesting problems. It has no Name, no Artist identification and it was in very bad condition with scratches, bare pieces in the veneer and what looked like mold.
There was a request to indentify the artist. I sent the 'Marquetry Initials' to an expert in England. He could not indentify the artist but did give me some good information. By looking at the picture he recognized that it was saw cut and not scalpel or knife cut. This gave the piece a strong probability that is was American, saw cut and not being an expert in the American styles came up short on indentifying the Initials.
I will not go any further with the restoration and techniques I used to restore this piece although I did write a log for the Owner to peruse. Maybe I will include a link here to a .pdf file of the log!
Please email if you have any Artist Information on this piece or indeed if you have any questions.
